In the supermarket yesterday, I was bewildered to see a man infront of me in the checkout line….this guy was dressed in old, dirty overalls, his best John Deer trucker hat, a five day beard, and a complex hair problem…hair coming from all over the dude.
Now, if you believe in stereotypes, you can probably sum up this guy in two seconds. He’s buying a twelve pack of Busch beer, bacon, and dental floss. ….BUT NO SO FAST, MY FRIEND….
I watch this man of a man, this rustic dude..struggle with the idea of buying a tabloid newspaper. Actually, he didn’t struggle…he picked it up and bought it. Without thinking too much. He just looked at it like it was a piece of food and he was in the desert for a year. It’s a gotta have item!!
So I look at the newspaper that he is buying trying to figure out what on the cover captured his attention. Why would this man care about Jessica Simpson’s shoes…or Michael J Fox’s seizure problem…is he a Family Ties fan? Nah.
As I start to put my groceries on the belt, this really starts to bother me.
WHY would he buy that tabloid crap? What is his deal? Does he use it as toilet paper??
THEN I see the reason….right there on the cover

OHH GEEZE, HOW COULD I OVER LOOK…..
OPRAH’S SUICIDE ATTEMPT! AND GAYLE WAS MENTIONED IN THE NOTE!
