The Bealtes made it over to Japan in 1966 to play at the Budakon, an ancient wrestling stadium that never hosted a rock concert prior to this (were there rock concerts prior?). Here’s a true example of the talent of the group. This is one of the most poorly set stages in history….no monitors, no boom stands (love George turning the mic several times), mic feedback, and Ringo up in the air probably out of direct earshot of the band. It spells disaster, but being The Beatles, they pulled it off and then some.

George’s 12 string Ric is even intune….check out the harmonies of John and George without the use of monitors.

Oh yeah, and to make things even better, they WROTE the two songs they are playing.

…..so what is this whole “Credo Blues Society” thing?

As I was putting together the recording sessions for “Quarter Life Crisis” (my first original-esq album), I found that a lot of the material I was going for was either jam-band-ish (like the Allman Brothers, Phish) or traditional blues stuff…..basically, the kind of music that I really love to play.

So…I put the pop/rock stuff on-hold for a little while and created The Credo Blues Society, a somewhat fictional blues rock jam band who’s sole purpose is to dive into improvisational roots music. The core of CBS is myself on guitar and vocal, John Chighizola on the drums and vocals, Gwen Voorhies on vocals, Eddie Malera on percussion, John Autin on hammond organ and piano, and Buzzy Beano on bass guitar.

The basic rule is simple, “just play”. There are really no rules, just a pure celebration of true soul music.

The end result has been beyond my expectations and it will be a true pleasure to bring this music to everyone in the near future.

While this was a fictional band idea, we have started to book shows around the Gulf Coast for the summer time…which makes the entire project now a very real experience. The new album will be released in May with a performance in New Orleans to celebrate. More info as it comes.
